Frequently asked Questions

How old does my child need to be to start classes?

Dancers can begin in our Tiny Tots Class at age 3.  This class focuses on building the skills that will be necessary for children to be successful irish dancers.  Our beginner classes are typically for dancers ages 5 and older.

What does it mean that your instructors are certified through An Coimisiun?

An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha (The Irish Dancing Commission) was established in 1927 to better organize irish dancing.  It oversees irish dancing worldwide and has established a rigorous standard to certify irish dance teacher and adjudicators.  Because our instructors are certified, our dancers are eligible to enter feisanna (irish dance competitions).

Is participation in competitions required?

No! While many of our dancers enjoy participating in competitions, others prefer to focus on performances.

Do you have a recital?

Since we have so many opportunities to perform in public, especially during St. Patrick's Day time, we do not have a recital.  We have an annual hooley, or irish party with irish music and dance each year in the spring.
